How we got our names.......

Kirsten's parents decided that they would name her after her father's side of the family if she was a boy and her mother's side of the family if she was a girl.  That is how she got her middle name, Sea, her mother's maiden name is Seavers so they shortened it to Sea. The name also has special significance because she was born in Berlin (i.e. over the ocean or Sea(s)).  Kirsten liked this concept and Christopher agreed. They attempted to use the same concept in naming Evan and Nolette and went through every name they and their relatives could remember. Unfortunately, after a lot of name searches we were not completely successful with this wholly family based effort, but the names do have significant meaning either way.

Evan Michael:

Evan - On Kirsten's way back to Colorado after a trip to New Hampshire for house hunting, she was sitting in the Manchester, NH airport looking at a book of names while waiting for her flight; when she heard a young mother calling her son, Evan.  The name quickly caught Kirsten's attention and she wrote it down to further discuss with Christopher.

Michael - Kirsten's father's name

Nolette Mae:

Nolette - Christopher's paternal grandmother's maiden name.  Her full name was Jeannette Irene Nolette Perry.

Mae - Kirsten's paternal grandmother's middle name; Patsy-Ruth Mae Hoover and Kirsten's maternal great grandmother's middle name, Dolly Mae Seavers.
